Air Jordan 5
First released in 1990, during this time only 4 models of the shoe were released to the public, all limited to 100 pairs each. The Air Jordan 5 was the first Jordan to have a clear rubber sole, designed by Tinker Hatfield the AJ5 was the first Time anyone had ever molded foam into a shoe upper. When creating the AJ5 Tinker saw Jordan and his skill on the court as a "Fighter Plane" when designing the AJ5 Tinker was inspired by the "Grey Nurse Shark" which is a old British fighter plane, and designed the shoe to resemble that.
Cop or Not?
They're are 3 AJ5 releasing this year on the Jordan release calendar via (sneakernews.com) which include the following:
The Jordan 5 Low "Neymar" which comes with a icy sole, black reflective tongue, grey and black mesh and a little bit of red on the inside of the tongue and Jumpman and also at the toe of the shoe. (Release Date: June 9, 2016. Subject to change)
The Jordan 5 "Black/Metallic" which comes with a all black mesh, icy white sole, and features "Nike Air" on the back of the shoe like when originally released in 1990. This AJ5 also has a grey reflective tongue, that really brings the shoe to life. ( Release Date: July 23, 2016. Subject to change)
The Jordan 5 "Metallic Gold" this AJ5 is heat! It comes with a all gold reflective tongue, white-black mesh, and a icy white sole. The flames at the bottom of the shoe are also gold. ( Release Date: August 13, 2016 Subject to change)
Cop or Drop?
All 3 of these AJ5 are set to release this year, but out of the 3 I would only say 2 out of the three are a definite cops, and I'll explain why.
Definite Cops: The AJ5 Black/Metallic and Metallic Gold are both definite cops. To start off from a resellers stand point, both are definitely sellers especially the Black/Metallic just for the fact that its a classic. Both pair of shoes are going to be heavily sought after this year, and probably going to be semi-limited. From a collectors stand point both are a definite cop as well just because of the fact of how hot these are.
On my heat rating I would rate all three shoes as follows:
Metallic/Black 9.5/10
Metallic Gold 8/10
Neymar Low 6/10
The Drop
In my opinion, I say the AJ5 "Neymar" are a drop, I don't see them selling out like other retros, I see them sitting on shelves for a couple weeks. I say this because all other low top AJ5 released this year have set on shelves for a while. I've talked to many people and they're not really feeling the low top 5, also think there not that nice of shoe, the color way makes the shoe ugly, but I could be wrong.
