American Canyon Basketball Making a Change

When American Canyon High School opened in 2010, the excitment around the sports program was high, due to the fabulous facilities the school has. Within the first three years of the school opening, the school was able to capture a Solano County Athletic Conference title in football. However, the early success didn't transalate onto the basketball court for the school. American Canyon had won less than 10 games in its first three years, and had never won a conference game. All this would change in the 2014-2015 season.

The change would start when the school hired former Vintage High School(Napa, CA) coach Brett Wedding. Looking to change the culture of the program, coach Wedding would go 11-5 in preseason, which was more wins than the school had in four seasons combined. American Canyon would also win their first conference game against Fairfield High School, and finish conference play 3-7. They missed the playoffs by one game, but it was clear that the program had made a change.

This season, American Canyon is looking to make a playoff run for the first time in school history. Coach Wedding added Team Rampage Varsity Head Coach and trainer Brandon Bracy to the staff to add depth to the coaching staff, and has pulled four sophomores to the varsity group. So far, the American Canyon Wolves sit at 14-3 which is the best preseason in school history, and also matches their total win mark for last year. The wolves continue to make history with every game, but they are looking to make an impact in league play, with their first game at Jesse Bethel High School(Vallejo, CA). Only time will tell if they will succeed in league.
