DMV Elite Showcase’s Super Team event displayed a number of highly talented teams from tri-state area. With the month of May serving as the mid-point of the AAU season, it was an opportunity to see how squads stacked up against one another after having a few tournaments under their belt.

Team Takeover 16U Black | Team Takeover finished undefeated in today’s showcase. Their first win was a come-from-behind victory against a very talented Baltimore United Team.  The defensive minded group forced BU into 22 turnovers and converted those into 20 points. They then followed up with a convincing 70-41 win against New World. The team averaged 12 steals in two games  and held both opponents to under 35% shooting preventing either opponent from getting into a rhythm.  The play ofJustin Moore, Myles Dread, Tre Wood, Bryce Golden and others was been solid over the weekend. The group will look to continue their stellar play as spring turns to summer.

Team Melo 17U | Melo’s 17U group is a scoring machine. Daryll Morsell averaged 27 points in two games with running mate Andre Rafus contributing 16 per game in both their wins. They erased a DC Blue Devils 9 point first  half lead in their first game for a victory and then came back from down 11 points at the half to Team 6th man to win 65-62.  With the hot shooting of Rafus and the explosiveness of Morsell, Team Melo can compete with anyone in the country.

District Basketball Club 17U | The District played an immaculate game against Baltimore United 17U. They shot 50% from the field for the game and 80% from three in the second half. They controlled the tempo the entire game and never gave BU a chance to take the lead. Denmark Slay II continued his torrid summer with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists on 7 of 13 shooting. The 60-47 win came without scorer Kyle Copeland which is an indication of the team’s depth. Donald Carey and Charles Snowdenwere solid as well.

Team Melo 16U | The trio of Wynston Tabbs, Noah Locke, and Demetrius Mims is a tall task for any back court defense. They scored 44 of their team’s 60 points in a route against Randlestown Running Rebels. The win was a follow up to a 59-40 victory against New Town where Tabbs and Locke exploded for 18 and 17 respectively.
