1. 2015 Elite west coast PG Sedrick Barefield (Centennial-Corona) verbally committed to Legendary coach Larry Brown and SMU Mustangs.

2. 2015 5 Star shooting guard Charles Matthews (Chicago, St. Rita) verbally committed to John Calipari and University of Kentucky.

3. Last week Curie (Chi) outlasted Whitney Young in four over times to capture the Chicago Public League Championship and was trying to fight off accusations of using ineligible players . The result of a Chicago Public Schools investigation means the Curie High School varsity basketball team will have to forfeit all of its wins this year. Curie won the city championship. It will also have to forfeit that title, but under state rules, Curie can compete in the state tournament. The CPS investigation found that seven players were academically ineligible to compete since the start of the season. The team’s coach has been suspended.

4. 2015 playmaker  Justin Simon (Temecula Valley) was offered by Louisville and Rick Pitino. Simon is garnering ample attention for his skill, size and vision. While on the west coast Pitino checked in on 2015 elite Bishop Gorman big men Chase Jeter and Stephen Zimmerman.

5. The Washington Athletic Association waived regulations that restricted Rainer Beach from potentially participating in the Dicks Sporting Goods National HS tournament. Now Rainier Beach is poised to make a run at a ” Mythical Championship” that could culminate in a run in NYC.

6. The Arizona Division 1 championship between Corona Del Sol and Pinnacle proved to be an instant classic. CDS guard Casey Benson’s refuse-to-lose mentality would be the difference in a marquee match up with Stanford-bound guard Dorian Pickens, who had 41 points on 16 of 29 shooting. Corona del Sol (33-1) prevailed in the end with 71-70 victory over Phoenix Pinnacle, a third consecutive Division I boys basketball championship at Jobing.com Arena.
