Hype Sports Hosted the Winter Jam and it was a big time event. This recap focuses on the 2021 group. Here are the Top Performers.
Arthur Kaluma, PF – RM5: Kaluma is a 6’6 forward that is long and athletic. He has a very solid mid-range jumper and if he has a step on his defender, he can throw it down. He had a strong weekend at the Winter Jam.
Kamryn Waites, C – RM5: Waites is 6’9 and weighs 280 lbs. He is huge but he has a lot of skill on the block. He finished with hook shots with the left and right hand and there was nobody that could stop him in the post. Waites maybe the best player in his class.
Ricardo Sarmiento, CG – Cali Rise: Sarmiento was shooting the ball lights out at the Winter Jam. He has a very good pull-up jumper and when he is hot, he can score in bunches. Sarmiento is dangerous in transition too as he was making the right plays with the ball.
George Ochoa, C – Cali Rise: Ochoa is a 2022 and he played up at the Hype and he held his own. He is a physical big that can stretch the floor some. He crashes the boards and he is a smart interior defender.
Jack Pugh, SF – San Diego Select: Pugh is a physical forward that uses his strength inside to finish under contact.Pugh runs the floors well and he has a solid set shot. Had solid consistent performances at the Winter Jam.
Obinna Anyanwu, PF – San Diego Select: Anyanwu is a 6’7 forward that is athletic. He ran the floors well and he has a soft touch from 15 ft out. Anyanwu did a good job blocking and altering shots also.
Will McClendon, PG – Vegas Elite: McCLendon does a good job scoring off the dribble and he had a big game against San Diego Select on championship Sunday. He is a streaky scorer and he actually did a good job on the boards as well, going inside and battling with the bigs.
Langston Love, PG – Hardwork: Love plays with a high motor and he attacks the basket at will. His shot was one against Houston Hoops as he only missed three shots, Love is a competitor and we like what he brings on the court.
Coleton Benson, CG – Hardwork: Benson shoots the ball very well from deep. He is a player that you can’t give space to at the half court set, because volleyball line extended he can make the shot consistently.
Reuben Fatheree, C – Houston Hoops: Fatheree is a handful inside. Fatheree is 6’8 and weighs close to 300 lbs. He can finish inside efficiently and when he put his body on a kid, there wasn’t much a player could do. Fatheree impressed us at the Winter Jam.
Chris Felix, SG – Houston Hoops: Felix is a smooth offensive player. He scores anyway you like. From inside, from the perimeter, in transition, just name it. Felix isn’t talked about in 2021 and he needs to. He has a underrated game!
