IE 2019
went 5-0 on the weekend with pool wins over Charlotte Court 69-40 and Chicago Storm 95-38. Bracket play picked up with wins over SYF Players 80-52, IE Central 88-63, and IE Metro 75-61. SYF cut IE’s 17 point lead to 6 early in the 2nd half before IE put it in 2nd gear to blow the game open and march to a convincing win. Alex Hemenway (Castle) had 17 points, and Sydney Curry (FW Horizon) matched him with 17 as well, dominating the low block. In the semi’s IE Central was able to hang around 20+ minutes thanks to 17 points from Korbin Spencer (Ky), and 21 from Kycia Washington (Howe). But a 2nd half explosion from Jeremiah Francis (18pts, Pick Central Oh) Alex Hemenway 17pts and Cobie Barnes 20pts (Floyd Central) led to a 88-63 route. In the championship game, IE 2019 faced off with perhaps the biggest surprise of the spring IE Metro. Metro had beaten EYBL Mac Irvin Fire last weekend, and also previously unbeaten IE Diesel the game before. Behind a 24 point effort Nate Childress (Zionsville) Metro put a scare into IE 2019, even leading 31-29 at the half, but Michael Moreno (18pts, Scott County Ky), Alex Hemenway (20pts) and Jeremiah Francis (22pts/9 assists) had other ideas as IE went on to cruise to 75-61 win and remained unbeaten at 20-0 on the season. IE Metro is going to be a force to be reckoned with for any team, as we approach the July open period. IE 2019 is ranked #1 in the nation by Indivisible Hoops, and #3 by Prephoops.com. IE 2019 returns to action in 2 weeks for the Adidas Gauntlet in Chicago, IL.
