by Kent Sterling
Robert Johnson’s AAU coach says he’s a great player and better kid.

Williams coached the 6’3″ shooting guard who pledged Indiana yesterday, and he spent ten minutes talking about Johnson’s game, his potential, the IU program, and college basketball with me this morning on “Ahead of the Curve” on 1070 the Fan.
There are those who believe summer basketball is the scourge of the system that sends high scool kids to colleges, and dislike Williams as a result. I am not among them. If Williams is a problem in the development of players, that the system is topian.
I like Boo, and no one knows more about Johnson than he does. If you are an Indiana fan, you’ll love what he has to say. If you aren’t, the glowing review won’t thrill you.
That’s not all Williams talks about. I asked him about the national rep of the IU program, and the one thing he would fix in college basketball if he had the chance. He and I are in total agreement there.
