Following their first round victory against the Up and Under, the ATX Knights continued their tournament run with a 75-73 upset against Florida Future. In the best game of the tournament so far, the Knights narrowly defeated Florida Future but it wasn’t without drama. With six seconds left in the game, Florida Future hit a three pointer to cut the deficit to three. Following a technical for excessive timeouts, the Knights were unable to capitalize giving the ball to Florida Future with just a few seconds remaining. While attempting a three, Alan Cedeno of Florida Future was fouled, sending him to the line, with the chance to tie the game. However, after making the first free throw, Cedeno missed the second, cementing the win for the Knights.
The Knights were led by KJ Adams, who finished with a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Adams is ranked by Indi Hoops as the No. 16 ranked player in the Class of 2021. After leading 37-19 at the half, the Knights lost momentum in the second half and blew a large lead. Despite only losing by two, Florida Future never led in the game. Caleb Jones on Florida Future was a standout player and the game’s leading scorer with 20 points. Ahmod Watkins of Florida Future finished the game with an 11 point, 10 rebound double-double.
The Knights will move on to face the winner of Vegas Elite vs. Seattle Select.
