In a game that the referees had to end early with less than a minute left in the game due to a fight between the teams, 3WYA Canada defeated the San Diego Slayers 68-50. Led by Kyree Thompson’s game-high 18 points, 3WYA Canada got off to an early lead and never looked back. Thompson also had seven rebounds and three assists. On the losing side, Devyn Sanchez had 17 points while Kai Jessie finished with a near double-double of 9 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks.
The game got chippy towards the end as two players were ejected before the referees ultimately ruled that the last thirty seconds were unnecessary. After shooting 47 percent from the field, 3WYA Canada was very efficient in their victory. Stacy Smith added 13 points for 3WYA Canada, going 5-13 from the field and 3-7 from three point range. A large part of 3WYA’s points came off the bench as they outscored the Slayers 32-9 in bench points.
