Joseph Anderson with the slam.
Jarrell caught up with Jo Jo Anderson “The Show” recently. Jo Jo is one of the Top 2015 Point Guards in the Country and plays for Houston Hoops. He formally played for the Houston Defenders until they transferred onto the Houston Hoops squad. Jo Jo is one of the most exciting guards and is as fun off the court as he is on.
Now that I look back on my sophomore year, I mad a lot of progress! I had a great year in school ball. My best games were our biggest games. I had 14 points & 6 assists when I went up against Harrison Twins. Then we went to Hawaii & I played pretty well up there. The game against Prime Prep game got my name out there a lot. I faced Emmanuel Mudiay & had 22 points & 5 assists. I started getting a lot of respec, then I carried my team all the way to the State Championship. We came up short & lost by like 13.
That next weekend I took a visit at La Lumiere (school that beat us in Hawaii by 30, finished #6 in the country) I really enjoyed it & loved everything about it! Great coaching staff, great environment, great academic situation, & a opportunity I couldn’t pass up! After my visit I knew I was going there. AAU soon started & I played under my dads teams called Houston Defenders. We went to California & won the Double Pump tournament. Lots of coaches started to recognize me. Then we went to Kansas City & lost in the Elite 8 to my friend Diamond Stone’s team. That Monday we changed & went to the Houston Hoops (Nike EYBL League). That transition happened right after that first live period was over if I remember correctly. We played in the Dallas qualifier and I had a very good tournament! I Had a couple 20 point games, one of them was vs Mac Irvin Fire. We end up losing to E1T1. A lot of reporters liked my game & I had got a couple of offers after. Up next we went to the Atlanta qualifier! Every game was tough but that didn’t stop us. We made it to the championship & decided not to play because we had school the next morning. That was probably one of my best tournaments! I dominated every game to be honest… I had no choice really, it was our last chance to get in Peach Jam… Then we had a couple weeks off as a team. I got invited to play in charity Event/All-Star game called the Mary Kline Classic! That was a great event, we raised over 25 thousand dollars I believe for cancer research! Big ups to Alex Kline for that. Then I took two unofficial visits, Nebraska & Creighton. After, I flew to Virginia for Scout Focus All American Camp. Pretty good camp… I went with 2 of my teammates. We played extremely well & showed out. July finally came around… Peach Jam! We went 1-3 up there but that was by far the best tournament of the season! I played in front of every college there is! That helped my recruiting so much! We then went to Vegas for two weeks. We won it all in the first tournament. Second tournament we lost in bracket play to our other Houston Hoops team… If me & a couple other of our players were healthy we would’ve beat them again haha but that’s how our season ended. I enjoyed the AAU season & my school season a lot. But the grind doesn’t really stop… I leave for school at La Lumiere on the 9th of August.. We’re chasing the dream of being Nation Champions! Thanks for the recognition Indihoops! |
