Kameron Chatman to Michigan

High school basketball star Kameron Chatman has decided to take his talents to Ann Arbor. The 6-7 lefty wing has committed to the University of Michigan. He chose the Wolverines over Oregon, Arizona, and USC among others.  He announced the decision last night via his twitter account saying “its been a long Recruiting Process but I’m proud to say I will be a Michigan Wolverine next year #GoBlue.”

The entire University of Michigan staff visited the Chatman home on Tuesday night and that helped seal the deal for Kameron to go to Michigan. He will be a great fit in Michigan’s “2-guard” offense. He possesses the ability to affect the game in every aspect. He has a mid range game that can only be crafted from long hours in the gym accompanied by a high basketball IQ that allows him to be a great passer. The most impressive stat might be Kameron averaged 9.8 rebounds per game in the Nike EYBL AAU circuit showing the toughness and effort to go get big rebounds.

Chatman fits the mold of past Michigan wings. At 6-7 and being left handed it is hard not to draw comparisons to Jalen Rose. More recently, he could potentially fill the gap that will be left by Glen Robinson III if he moves on to the NBA following next season.

Heading into his senior year he is ranked as the No. 23 recruit in the class of 2014 by scout.com. Chatman can make his verbal commitment final on November 13, 2013 when the fall signing period officially beings allowing student athletes to sing a binding letter of intent.

This is a big pick up for Michigan as he is a player who fits perfectly into the Beilein system and he will flourish in that type of basketball.
