~~Although last weekend was the start of AAU in Michigan most of the power programs will be kicking off there season this week at either the Storm Classic or the Mustangs Motown Showdown. Here is a list of the top teams across the state.
1. Family: This could be there most telented group in the past 10 years. There lineup will have Trevor Manuel (Oak Hill) Eric Davis ( Saginaw Aurthur Hill) , A.J. Turner (New Hampton Prep), Miles Bridges (Huntington Prep) Jaire Grayer (Flint Southwestern), Neshua Wise (Flint Southwestern) and Latin Davis (Milan) with that amount of depth at the guard and wing spot they should make for a very exciting team this year.
2. One Nation: This is probably the most talked about team in the state this year. They are headlined by Super Sophomore Josh Jackson (Consortium). Although Jackson is the biggest name on the team which he would be on just about any in the country tey have some pieces around him that can make a major impact Those complimentary pieces include Josh Davis (Henry Ford), Bakari Evelyn (Southfield Christian) Josh Mcfolley (Mt. Clemens) and Derek Murphy (Warren Mott).
3. Michigan United: With the merging of the Michigan Warriors and The Program Elite most of the talent in the 734 area code will be playing together. The most intriguing player on the roster will be 6-8 PF Nick Perkins (Milan) who I believe is the second best 2015 big behind Deyonta Davis of Muskegon. This team will have the luxury of having alot of talent who knows how to play together so they should jump out to a quick start.
4. Reach Legends: They will always be a tough scrappy tea and that doesn’t mean that there players aren’t skilled. They have 2 of the best shooters in the state on the court at the same time with Jaylin Walker(Romulus) and Marquel Ingram (Pershing) they also have 2 servicable big bodies in Rodney Scales(Oak Park) and Gary Perry (Bishop Foley) there X-factor will be Jerron Rogers (North Farmington) he is widely considered the best 2015 wing in the state. if they can get solid PG play they will be a tough out at any event.
5. Detroit Spartans: This is a team that has been making strides every year for at least 3 years now, They will be returning the nuceus of the team who seemed to finally gel in July last year. You would be hard pressed to find a better collection of guards on any team in the state other than the Family. DeShawn Brocks (Westside Christian), Bryan Collins (Annapolis) and Connor Elzerman (Oxford) will cause opposing coaches alot of heartburn this spring and summer since they all have the ability to put the ball on the floor and step out deep. This team wil only go as far as Devin Haygood 6-8 WF (Ypsi Lincoln) takes them he is a high energy kid and has improved his jumpshot from last year. There one flaw in previous years was there lack of inside toughness and the addition of 6-6 Mikel Tyson (Consortium) has solved that problem.
