There is quietly becoming another area in Michigan which can make claim that they are the hot bed of basketball in the state. The Ypsilanti area is now producing not only some of the state’s top players but also nationally ranked players are starting to come from the area. Everyone in the country is familiar with 6-9 PF Jaylen Johnson of Ypsilantia High(LOUISVILLE COMMIT) he made his name this past summer playing travel ball with Dorians PRIDE.

The next in line could be a player from rival school Ypsilanti Lincoln Devin Haygood is a very intriguing prospect from the area he has already received one Division 1 offer from the University of New Orleans and has very high interest from several other schools. Haygood is sort of a hybrid type player he is a legitimate 6-7 and still growing he has developed the ability to put the ball on the floor from the perimeter and his outside shot is steadily improving.

I watched him over this past weekend at a fall league and he was easily the best player in the building. In my opinion if the kid continues to work on his ball handling he will be a mid to high major player easily. SO he is definitely a player to watch over the next 2 years.
