Under Armour Association – West: Jayhawk Invitational

17u:  KC RUN GMC was pretty dominant throughout the tournament going 6-0 in the first tournament of the year for them.  They beat Malik Newman & Terrence Fergusson from Mo Williams Academy, the well coached and guard talented Chicago Lockdown, SYF Players, Utah Prospects (Gonzaga commit Jesse Wade and Makol Mawien), Las Vegas Prospects (Marcus Lovett), and the Illinois Wolves (Smart, Nixon, Ash, Stumpe, Malek Harris) in the Championship Game.  Jimmy Whitt & Kevin Puryear were a 1-2 punch that when combined with the rest of KC RUN GMC’s squad was just too much to handle for any other team to handle.  It looks like they did this without the services of a 7’3″ Center named Mo Ahmed too.

16u:  KC RUN GMC & CHAUNCEY BILLUPS ELITE were CO-CHAMPIONS in the 16u Division where KC RUN GMC outscored it’s opponents 324 to 202 and only had one game where the lead wasn’t so big that they didn’t have to ask the other team to leave before the final buzzer.  KC RUN GMC beat 1-Nation, OSA Crusaders, Young Legends, Grassroots Indiana & Net Gain Sports to start their season off undefeated.  They featured 2017 phenom Mitchell Ballock and 2016 ultra skilled F Jeriah Horne & PG Justin Roberts to go along w/ a very talented group of kids where there is no drop off when they sub.  CHAUNCEY BILLUPS ELITE had an average win margin of 2pts in their final 2 games and almost 8pts for the tournament and beat some very talented teams like Grassroots Indiana, SYF Players, Houston Defenders and Martin Brothers.

15u:  Grassroots Indiana and Louisville Magic combined to steal the show in the 15u division.  Both had extremely talented and mature teams with great size, but Louisville Magic was no match for Grassroots Indiana where Grassroots Indiana walked away with a 66-35 victory.  Utah Prospects & Gateway Basketball Club round out the Final Four in a loaded 15u division.
