IndiHoops For Youth Basketball 2.0 Launches – What’s New?

IndiHoops 2.0

October 3rd, 2016

STORY

I am very excited to release version 2.0 of Indivisible Hoops (IndiHoops.com) to the youth basketball club world.

Starting off coaching in the traditional world of High School and College, it was a rather eye opening experience 7 years ago when I was really introduced to the club basketball “AAU Basketball” scene.

When I was focused on the world of High School and College you can start off blind to what at the time was a complete sub culture and almost looked at as “fringe society of AAU Basketball.”

I am not going to lie, the very first High School club event was held in our college basketball facility and what I saw was pretty horrific.  My business partner John just kept mumbling to himself “It doesn’t have to be this way.”  “It doesn’t have to be this way.”

We however, saw tremendous potential and rather than criticize it, we decided to jump in and see if we could help.  We had experience as college basketball coaches and wanted to show the youth what did and did not translate to a higher level in their development.  We estimate 500,000 players on 20,000 clubs in the US will be on a club team this year of some sort from 8u-17.  Every player in college now has been through the club system.  This was not the case years ago.  Basketball is almost the most participated sport in the US.

Our whole mission was to shine a light on club basketball and bring it to life by first organizing it online.  When we first started in 2012, very rarely did ANY club team or event have its own website.  In just a couple of short years, the transformation has been incredible.  We believe the visibility is the start of the solution.

When our own clubs wanted to go to a tournament, it was a almost a secret society, I would have fears that the tournament out of town was not going to happen and that fear actually did come true in at times.  When trying to find out what teams were sponsored or even find a score for our rankings, we had to make hundreds of phone calls.

Why IndiHoops is unique is that this is not ivory tower of how the game could be helped, this is from people that live and breathe club basketball every day and have been for the last decade.  We have been in the position from literally every angle from event operator to a club coach.

Fast forward to today, we feel that the club basketball game is better than even a few years ago due to the fact that technology is starting to bring it up to date and IndiHoops 2.0 hopes to continue this trend and solve many of the pain points for event operators, club directors, coaches, trainers and parents by creating a conversation and helping organize club in a way that will bring great solutions to the youth basketball experience.

It is incredible to see teams have social media presences, logos, websites and be able to track many of the scores and that is why this is a perfect time to bring club basketball to the next level and start getting the respect that it deserves.

We look forward to growing with you and helping you achieve your goals and see the youth basketball system develop because that will ultimately help the kids experience as they transition to adulthood using the lessons they learn through basketball.

What is New?

We have broken it down to start from 4 different angles.

If you are here, you are a TOURNAMENT/CAMP operator, Club Director/Coach/Team Mom, Player & Parent.  There is also a miscellaneous category for now that is a scout, college coach, trainer etc.

Your experience with the website will change based on when you REGISTER and put in fill out the information on what category you fall under.

Introduction of the Indi Worlds #2

Last August, we ran the Indi Worlds #1.  This was for the class of 2020 as a final to the 8th grade experience that will rival the Little League World Series of Baseball.  We had 10 teams across the country at this signature event.  Club basketball needs ONE clear cut event to showcase what it is capable of.

The next year we look to build on the event by adding the field to 16, bringing in a few international teams, and having a clear cut system to become eligible to be 1 of the 16 teams that will play for a world title just before your High School career.

We have the 4 qualifiers set up.

Class of 2021

Tournament/Camp Operators

We aim to have the most extensive calendar and events listing, however not anyone can just list anymore.  There is a nominal fee of $4.99 or $47 membership for the year to be able to list your events in our directory so you can accomplish your goals of marketing your event to the right audience and also getting more quality teams and players.

Club Directors

IndiHoops.com understands and respects what you are doing.  It is not easy.  For now, it is FREE to operate your club program.  To do so, you must obtain a user name and password by clicking here.  Once you log in, find your team by going to Programs and searching.  Once you do…make sure to CLAIM your team.  If your team is not listed, simply click ADD Your Team.

Please fill out the all the information or send to a Team Mom.  The only thing we ask back is this.  If you have a 2021 team it is first priority to add your rosters and a headshot of each player.   You can add other rosters after that as you please.  Please also use the function of filling out your tournament schedule for the year as you know it.

Aren’t you tired of having to verify each player or be questioned about their age at EVERY SINGLE TOURNAMENT.  What we hope to solve is you input your roster, upload the birth certificate and report card which will go on our secure server, be checked and then will check off that the process has been done correctly.  We will then delete them off our server quickly.  You can read more about this process in our TERMS OF SERVICE.

This is a new an innovative process and we are excited about it, but need your participation so you can focus on developing your kids and not worry about logistics.

Eventually we will be adding even more benefits to you to make it easier to get players to your tryouts etc.

Players/Parents

As of now, there is not much for you to do, as we are adding more features for this.  You should sign up for a user name and password to have it on file and lock in the early user name you want.

Also, make sure to subscribe to our VIP newsletter, where you will be getting discounts on exposure camps and events throughout the season.
