Our Organization ~ Carolina Jazz Basketball, Inc. (Carolina Jazz) is a South Carolina nonprofit organization that is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501-C-3 tax-exempt organization. Our purpose is to provide meaningful opportunities for youth (boys and girls) to develop skills in basketball with a stern focus on character development. In less than two years we have more than thirty boys and girls who participate in our program. Their parents are very supportive. Carolina Jazz has two divisions – Athletics through basketball skills development, and Education through Leadership University. Athletics Division ~ In the Athletics Division we will work with fifteen youth in each of the four grade levels (ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth). Theses sixty students will be recruited from Lexington, Richland, Sumter, Newberry, Orangeburg, Saluda, and Kershaw Counties. We will also not exclude youth from other areas. Our players will practice with public school coaches on a volunteer basis. Practice sessions will be held at public schools, faith-based, and community facilities on a pro bono basis. There is a continuing need for young men and ladies to be associated with organizations where their skills, talents and abilities can be harnessed in a safe and productive environment. The focus must not be solely with their physical dimension, but with equal importance there should be concern with their mental, social and moral development. CJBB is committed to ensuring the development of young men and women who become members through activities where individual and collective responsibilities, respect, honor and trust are core components of all endeavors.
