The Charlotte Dragons are an affiliate of BP Basketball, Inc (BPBI), a volunteer non-profit organization focused on developing the life skills of youth through basketball. In the gym, BPBI coaches and volunteers teach sound basketball fundamentals, discipline, promote good sportsmanship and work to develop a bond of brotherly friendship among all its players. Outside the gym, BPBI focuses on mentoring, leadership development and community service for its players and participants. Founded in 2012, the Charlotte Dragons are AAU and USBA members. Many of our players have played together for various teams, and look forward to competing in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states. In addition to its elite basketball program, BPBI also sponsors basketball camps for youths in Charlotte, NC and Chester, SC. The basketball camps, known as "Camp Nixon", are hosted by former LA Lakers point guard, Norm Nixon. Norm is a former NBA All-Star and Champion. He is also a board member of BPBI. BPBI's founders are Hugh Allen and Dr. Jerome Williams, Jr. Hugh is banking executive in Charlotte, and Jerome is a local cardiologist. Their vision has been to bring young men from a wide range of backgrounds together and, through basketball, provide a platform for personal development.
