Mid State Magic Basketball Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. As such we do not exist as a business with the aim of making money. Our organizational model is built around investing in our kids. All funds raised during the year are ploughed straight back into our kids and our teams. Their development as players and responsible citizens is our primary goal. The Mid State Magic Basketball Club is dedicated to the administration of a highly competitive and instructional "after season" basketball program for girls and boys ages 9 to 17. Mid State Magic Basketball Club provides an organized and disciplined environment for players to develop and to maximize individual and team basketball skills, sportsmanship and teamwork. Mid State Magic Basketball Club assembles competitive girls and boys basketball teams in each age level for competition in local, state and national programs and tournaments, sponsored by national basketball organizations. Player Placement: The program is not for recreational purposes. It is designed for athletes who have a desire to play competitive basketball. Players are required to attend age specific tryout sessions. Age group assignment is based upon your child's age as of January 1st for girls and September 1st for boys of the current year. Tryout session dates can be found under the schedule section of this website. * Players must register for tryouts by completing the Mid State Magic Basketball Club Registration Form * Players who have conflicts with tryout dates should call Brian Cousin at (336) 270-9393 to arrange a session. Team Assignments: All players are required to tryout each year. There will be at least one team at each age level. At some age divisions we may have more than one Division I team. In addition, many of the age levels have developmental teams for players with potential to compete in Division I and who exhibit the commitment to work to improve his or her skills. All teams play under the name Mid State Magic Basketball Club. Commitment: Mid State Magic Basketball Club is an advocate for education and works to coordinate school and other sporting activities and schedules to maximize the opportunities for its players. In general, there are two or three activities per week (practice and games). Weekday practices are held in the evening after 6:00 p.m. Players interested in the program are expected to commit to attend the activities to the best of their ability. Players who miss a team practice have the opportunity to attend a session for another team. Coaching: Coaches are skilled in teaching basketball at a highly competitive level and exhibit appropriate temperament and sportsmanship toward players, fellow coaches and referees. Coaches are required to: * exhibit the ability to develop individual player skills and be committed to the ideals of sportsmanship * have high standards of personal character and integrity * have the time and resources to dedicate to the program. All Mid State Magic Basketball Club head coaches have significant coaching experience in AAU or high school basketball programs or are former high level players. Assistant coaches will frequently be parents with former playing experience, coaching experience or significant experience with the program
