To develop the character traits, technical skills and build high Self-esteem in each player necessary for maximum realization of each individual’s potential. Team Philosophy “Perseverance and Discipline” is the backbone of success in any endeavor in life! “Perseverance and Discipline” is key words in “Riverbank State Park Runnin Rebels” philosophy! Team Organization Riverbank State Park Runnin’ Rebels uses a program designed to develop players, physically, mentally and emotionally in systematic fashion. A well defined long-term approach of gradually increasing degrees of commitment is sential to reach top performance levels. The purpose of the Program is to encourage excellence in sports as a tool and means of encouraging and advancing excellence in academics, developing constructive personal goals, achieving sound moral values and standards including high standards of personal and group behavior, and providing an extended family to assist young people in becoming constructive and successful members of their communities. We are unashamedly seekers of success. We want our members to think of themselves as winners. All of our players play in the local New York City tournaments, which include Rod Strickland, Nike Swoosh, IS8, Rucker and other local AAU and non-AAU events. The Riverbank State Park Runnin Rebels organization is devoted to setting a very high standard for AAU basketball. We are dedicated to the development of young student athletes, helping them to maximize their basketball potential, enhance and improve their skills, increase their knowledge of basketball and learn good sportsmanship. GOALS OF THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AND LIFE SKILLS To continue to positively affect and inspire the lives of the young people in our program, many who come to us from New York’s high risk communities, through participation in a program which provides high hopes, positive role models and develops positive self-esteem, demand adherence to high standards and requires high expectations for success in a disciplined environment. We believe in striving for excellence, in striving to be the best, in believing that winning is good and in achieving worthy objectives which come only from hard work, structure and adherence to rules. These are goals and objectives that our participants need and often are denied elsewhere. Our participants are asked to dream of great things and to know that at the very least they will achieve good things.
