7 CITY HURRIKANES HISTORY:
The 7 City Hurrikanes is a Nonprofit Organization that was created September of 2008. We are associated with AAU, YBOA, USBA & USSSA basketball in Virginia. Our organization was created to give both boys and girls in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia an opportunity to play basketball at an all-star level of competition. I, Keaton L. Hyman, am Director/Head Coach of the boys 14U team. I have been coaching in the AAU and YBOA organizations of Virginia the past 7 years.
VISION: With determination and plenty of hard work this organization will be competitive on a National level in the age groups of 9U to 17U. We teach our children to believe in yourself and others will believe in you. Due to the lack of youth basketball programs in this area, many of these children would never have this opportunity, I have developed the Hurrikane program.
MISSION: I would hope the 7 City Hurrikanes will teach both young boys and young girls that they can achieve their dreams. The organization’s coaching staff will consist of ex-players who understand that teaching the fundamentals are a must. Raw talent without coaching is talent wasted.
GOAL: As the Director of the Basketball Program, I would like to see, each player within the association receive a college scholarship. Education is the top priority of this association. Without it we can’t do anything. The NBA and WNBA aren’t promised to these players. But an education is theirs to have for a lifetime.
