DC Hoyas

DIRECTOR: Anthony Brown
LOCATION: Washington DC, Maryland,

The program is funded by dedicated parents. Our primary goal is to instruct and teach the game of basketball, while reinforcing life skills and helping raise our future leaders. The DC HOYAS strive to provide each player with enough exposure so that a college scholarship is a realistic goal. Since the crime rate in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area is continuing to climb, we believe that Basketball is a way to provide our youth with a chance at a bright future. The DC HOYAS program, in partnership with Largo High School, is based upon the principles and fundamentals of hard work and discipline. These principles are emphasized throughout every practice and community service event. The DC HOYAS do not sale or promote NBA dreams. However, we do support a more realistic dream of a college education. Our program emphasizes that sacrifice and dedication makes the difference between a great player and a good player. So in order to achieve greatness, we stress that each player put in time and work to develop their minds, game, and overall character. The DC HOYAS is a travel AAU team that routinely travels out of town once a month. We believe that this allows the players to be exposed to other environments, particularly players from the low income areas that are striving to make something of themselves despite their economic circumstances. We know that this is not the only answer, but certainly believe that we are doing our part to help make all of our lives better for the future generations.
