The OLD GOLD basketball team was founded when some players from our YBA program at the Southside YMCA asked Coach Antonio Wiltz to allow them to compete in AAU basketball tournaments. This group started out as one team of about 12 players. The OLD GOLD AAU basketball program is now in our 13th year and has grown from one team into numerous teams ranging from 7th grade through high school Juniors. It has also become one of the best and most respected AAU basketball programs in the state. In January of 2001, OLD GOLD Basketball was classified as a not-for profit organization which means that any donations received can be considered as charitable contributions for tax purposes.
The purpose of the OLD GOLD Basketball program is to give aspiring young basketball players further development in basketball and life through their AAU experiences. We offer these young men a very positive program to keep them off the streets and out of trouble. We stress creating a family type atmosphere where we push our kids to excel academically as well as athletically. We have a strong group of coaches, who are very dedicated to helping our players develop as young men and good basketball players.
During the 13 year span OLD GOLD Basketball has won numerous tournaments and has established itself as one of the prominent AAU programs in the state. OLD GOLD Basketball has left it’s mark in numerous towns and has consistently taken home championship hardware. The tournaments won range from winning the Atlanta Celtics classic, to 8th place finishes in the AAU U. S. National tournament. The program has help send numerous players to 4 year universities on scholarship. Most of our kids end up going on to play basketball in college, but all end up going on to college, as that is continually stressed to them. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Coach Antonio Wiltz for further info about the OLD GOLD Basketball program.
