South Florida Stings Basketball Academy was created by Coach Juan Hernandez, to develop players of all levels and ages in order to prepare their games for their next step in basketball, whether it be middle school, high school or players entering college. Coach Hernandez, who has college coaching experience on the staff of Florida International University's men’s basketball team, is also an established High School coach with an impressive 213-64 (77%) record. Currently as Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach of Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School, his team has compiled a record of 108-31 (78%), winning the 2012-13 and 2015-16 District Championships, 2015-16 Regional Championship and a State Final 4 appearance. Under Hernandez, the Bulldogs have been ranked in the top-10 in the state of Florida the last 3 years.

A native of Miami, Fla., Hernandez also coached the Miami Runnin’ Rebels and MYBO Warriors (AAU/USSSA) from 2007 to 2012. The Warriors won 17 tournaments, including the USSSA State Championship and the AAU Disney Spring Classic Championship. Hernandez led the Warriors to a third-place finish in the 11th grade AAU National Championship and consistently guided the team to a top-five ranking in the state of Florida and a top-10 ranking nationally. Other high school coaching highlights include 3 District Championships and 2 Regional Championships. His teams consistently ranked in the State Top 10 and Hernandez has coached 11 players that went on to play at the collegiate level.
