The Tulsa Titans Basketball program was founded by a collaborative union between Lester Johnson, Mike Gilliam, Derrek Lewis, and Larry Baker, the program was organized in the fall of 1999. Lester, Mike, and Derrek saw there was a need in the community for the development of the "student athlete"; emphasis was placed on integrity, character development and academic excellence with athletics, through the promotion of competitive basketball for youths. Larry’s vision provided the key element, an opportunity to instill a spiritual foundation for youths that love the game. Our first team was formed 5th grade/11U boys; Head Coach Lester Johnson, Assists Mike Gilliam, Derrek Lewis, and Mark McCaskill. Ron Daniel an original parent played an active role and held the vital position of Director of Operations.
Over the years, the original concepts are still utilized and the Tulsa Titans have become a household name to all spring and summer basketball fans throughout the mid-west. Our organization consists of several teams competing in age divisions from first grade through varsity. Our goal is to attract the leading players in the area to promote and supervise a comprehensive and extremely competitive summer basketball program that places emphasis on athletics and educational improvement. We strive to teach players the importance of the "Team" concept in game situations and within their community, while providing an enjoyable and safe environment. Our program has helped provide opportunities for student athletes to participate at the collegiate level.
