South Sound Academy is an expansion of a program known as the South Sound Tarheels which was established over 12 years ago by its director Tom Kelley. Coach Kelley along with the help of his coaching staff developed South Sound Academy as a response to the growing number of athletes in the south sound area that were going unrecognized for their on/off court accomplishments. Creating South Sound Academy (a totally non-profit program) is a collaboration of several local and former AAU and high school coaches with the goal in mind to see these talented young individuals pursue collegiate careers both academically as well as athletically.
